8BALL CLUB

Welcome Message from the 2025 8 Ball Club Captain

To all our esteemed players,

As the new 8 ball club captain for 2025, it is my pleasure to welcome back all players who contributed to the success and enjoyment of the 2024 season.  Your enthusiasm, skill, and camaraderie have been the backbone of our club, making each game a memorable event.

For those interested in joining us, we have regular games on Wednesday nights at 7pm and Saturday afternoons at 1pm.  There is a $5 entry fee for each game.  Additionally, on the last Wednesday of each month, we feature a prize money payout for the top two finishers, adding an extra layer of excitement to our competition.

Membership in our club is $20 per year, which grants you full access to participate in all our competitions and trophy events.  We believe that this is a great opportunity not just to play and improve your skills, but also to be a part of a vibrant community of 8 ball enthusiasts.

We look forward to seeing old faces and welcoming new ones.  Let's make the 2025 season another year of thrilling games and great sportsmanship!

Best regards,
Dave Addy
2025 8 Ball Club Captain

Charles Upham Pool & Darts Tournament

Image

We are excited to announce our Charles Upham Pool & Darts Team Tournament on Sunday 31st August.

Charles Hazlitt Upham was a New Zealand soldier and one of the most highly decorated Commonwealth servicemen of World War II. He is best known for being awarded the Victoria Cross (VC) twice — a rare and exceptional honour. He remains one of only three people to ever receive the VC and Bar, and the only combat soldier to do so.

Upham earned his first VC in Crete in 1941, where he showed extraordinary bravery under fire, leading attacks, rescuing wounded comrades, and fighting on despite being wounded himself. His second VC was awarded for his actions in Egypt in 1942, during the First Battle of El Alamein, where he again led from the front despite being severely wounded and ultimately captured.

After the war, Sir Charles Upham returned to New Zealand and was known for his humility and strong character, becoming a national hero.

Our RSA is proud to have been selected to host an annual Tournament in Sir Charles’ name.
