The Silverdale King's Empire Veterans is an affiliated branch of the New Zealand King's Empire Veterans Association. Although the National body was wound up in 2020, the Silverdale branch continues to operate and meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the Hibiscus Coast Community RSA. Meetings commence at 2 pm.

The National Organisation was formed by Lord Ranfurly in 1900 to recognise all Veterans who had served since 1842. The initial name was the Empire Veterans of New Zealand.

At the Coronation of King George V in 1910, he referred to the organisation and assented to changing the name to King's Empire Veterans of New Zealand.

At the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952 she expressed her wishes that the name remains the same.

From inception in 1900 the Patron was the Governor General of New Zealand. This remained until 2015 when it was agreed that a serving member be installed as Patron. The late Reg Canty was appointed as Patron for Life. Reg died shortly before the National body was wound up.

In addition to the monthly meetings, a mid-winter lunch and Christmas lunch are held.

Membership is open to all members of the RSA and you are most welcome to attend.
